We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist/Office Receptionist to join our team. In this role, you’ll bring your expertise in medical billing and your excellent communication skills to a dynamic and supportive work environment.
As a Medical Billing Specialist, you’ll handle verifying benefits, billing patients and insurance companies accurately, resolving any billing discrepancies or claim denials, and ensuring timely payments. In your role as an Office Receptionist, you’ll manage incoming calls and emails, schedule and reschedule patient appointments, and handle patient onboarding and information management within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Responsibilities
Answer incoming calls and emails promptly (within 24 hours).
Schedule and reschedule patient appointments.
Manage patient onboarding and upload patient information into the EHR system.
Assist with patient enrollment.
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers about coverage and eligibility.
Obtain pre-authorizations as needed.
Generate and submit medical insurance claims accurately and on time.
Review and appeal denied or rejected claims.
Follow up on unpaid claims and overdue balances.
Address billing inquiries and discrepancies with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
Stay updated on medical billing regulations and coding guidelines.
Resolve coding issues and billing disputes.
Collect patient payments, including copays and coinsurance.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Communicate with insurance companies regarding medical records.
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical billing and coding.
Strong understanding of eligibility and authorization processes.
Experience with insurance verification and authorization.
Proficiency in medical billing software and EHR systems.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 codes.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to self-start, multitask, prioritize effectively, and maintain a professional demeanor.
Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS-P) preferred but not required.
